MultiMBM

Novel computational strategies for the identification of a multi-omics signature for diagnosis and prognosis in melanoma with brain metastases

Patients with metastatic melanoma have one of the highest frequencies of brain metastases when compared to patients with other cancers. In addition, they are less responsive to therapies and have the highest morbidity and mortality of melanoma patients. They currently have few clinical options and knowledge about their mechanisms of function is still limited. We need to know more about the progress of this disease, and for this purpose MultiMBM proposes a powerful strategy that reviews, analyses, summarises and validates in a robust way, all the information available in public databases. This will allow us to find direct and reliable clues to help diagnose and treat patients in a more personalised way, taking into account the specific characteristics of each individual.

DifNerOmics

Study of sex differences in neurodegenerative diseases with integrative approaches of omics data and biomedical imaging

There are important clinical and epidemiological differences between males and females in many neurodegenerative disorders. The high incidence of these diseases in an increasingly ageing population has intensified the interest and need to understand the relevance of sex in their progression and treatment. In this project, we present a novel characterisation of sex differences in neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer Disease, Parkinson Disease and multiple sclerosis), through various computational strategies based on omics, medical imaging, drug repurposing and their integration, with the aim of deepening the understanding of the molecular basis of these pathologies.
