PATOSS (PArkinson Transcriptomic Overview of Sex-differences at a Single cell resolution) is a web-based tool created by the Computational Biomedicine Lab (CBL) at the CIPF research centre for the study and dissemination of sex differences in Parkinson’s disease. We present in this web resource a variety of user-friendly tools to navigate through the results obtained from integrative sn-RNAseq meta-analyses of PD post-mortem brain samples datasets, both at the coding gene and the transposable element (TE) level.

The integration of coding genes involved two meta-analyses covering different brain regions: one comprising four studies of the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNpc) and another comprising two studies involving cortical samples (CT). In contrast, the integration of TEs was performed only in the four SNpc studies.

For this integration, briefly, we followed a common processing pipeline and annotated the major brain cell types (neurons, oligodendrocytes, microglia, and astrocytes). For each cell type, we performed a sex-specific differential expression analysis and meta-analyzed the results using a random-effects model. For more information on the methods used, please refer to the publications cited in the section below.
