Read more
Luis José Delaye from CINVESTAV Mexico visits CIPF for a period of over three months as Experinced Researcher within the DEANN project. During his visit, Luis will work on the genomics of two different microorganisms. On the first place, he will work on genomics of the fungi Pneumocystis. Since he is generating new data, his first objective will be to analyse this data with Qualimap and annotate theses sequences with reconstruction of the host-endosymbiont with Paintomics.
Abstract Metagenomics, the sequence characterization of all genomes within a sample, is widely used as a virus discovery tool as well as a tool to study viral diversity of animals. Metagenomics can be considered to have three main steps; sample collection and prepa[...] Read more
Ana Conesa, Project Coordinator of the DEANN project and Erik Bongcam-Rudloff partner from the Sweden side participated at the SoIBio International Conference 2016 on "Bioinformatics and Computational Biology for Innovative Genomics" which has taken place theses days in Riviera Maya, Mexico 22-26 April 2016. The DEANN project held 2 days practical courses on Next Generation Sequencing. Fellowships have been awarded to different students participating within the project DEANN. Read more
Rafael Hernández from CIPF (Spain) visits the University of Florida within the DEANN project. As main objective of during the internship at the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the Genetics Institute of the University of Florida, I will focus on the development of Paintomics 3.0, a bioinformatics tool for joint visualization of multiple omic data types, as part of my PhD thesis titled "Development of bioinformatics software for the integrative analysis of Next Generation Sequencing data". More specifically, [...] Read more
Pedro Furió from CIPF (Spain) Visits the University of Florida within the DEANN project. As part of a collaboration between Principe Felipe Research Center and University of Florida, I have been developing a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) sponge predictor, in which we computationally predict lncRNAs that are sequestrating miRNAs, so miRNAs cannot longer bind to their protein coding targets. For this purpose, we have been developing a web application that can launch these predictions for any kind of species as well as allowing custom f[...] Read more
Eugenia Flores from CIPF (Spain) visits the University of Florida. Her secondment will take place under WP7 Task 7.4 Support on funding opportunities for extending joint research activities. As Project Manager form the Genomics of Gene Expression Lab at CIPF one of her main tasks is to detect financing bodies in order to get funding for the lab. Programs and funding from the European Union are identified, but in order to collaborate with the United States is not so clear. The main idea of her visit will be to learn about the di[...] Read more
José Antonio Corona Gómez from LANGEBIO-CINVESTAV visits CIPF within the DEANN Project for a period of over a month. The aim of this visit is to learn to implement bioinformatic tools for the assembly and annotated genomes and metagenomes. His specific objectives are: Automated pipeline for genome sequencing and assembly, struactutal annotation of genomes and functional annotation of genomes and metagenomes.
